BDBO aims to find and experiment with new ways for long-term unemployed adults to break out of difficult situations, and instead of waiting for jobs, to create the capacity to build their own life and economy through taking action in their community, turning challenges into opportunities.
Through the assistance from partners and coaches, the teams of unemployed use the community as their classroom, identify needs and opportunities in the community and step by step build capacity to take action and create alliances and partnerships to work on their missions.
BDBO is part of several new European initiatives designed to help fundamentally change the social situations of the millions of long-term and often less-educated adults, in particular, those aged 40+.
