Communicating cultural heritage, 3 days of training thanks to the WAAT project

The first online training of the WAAT (We are all together to raise awareness) Project has been completed, involving 4 participants for each project partner Plungė Public Library (main partner, Lithuania), Quiosq (Netherlands) ICARUS HRVATSKA (Croatia), EGInA SRL (Italy), The Multidisciplinary European Research Institute Graz (Austria), and Centro de Educación de Adultos de Olmedo (Spain) in 3 days of activities and workshops related to cultural heritage.

The training curated and coordinated by the partner QUIOSQ, was held from 6 to 8 April and, with short lectures on topics such as the difference between information and understanding of heritage, the narration of heritage for the use and systematic evaluation of heritage, moments of discussion and group work alternated.

The topics related to the world of video editing are of primary importance. On the afternoon of April 7, all the participants took on the role of the videomaker to make “short movies”, through which they could tell an item of their local heritage.

The EGInA group has decided to explore La Porziuncola of Santa Maria degli Angeli (Pg, Italy) through the eyes of two children. Video and soundtrack were made specifically for this activity.

The experience was enriching and allowed the participants to acquire new knowledge which will then be used for the development of the WAAT project, which aims to provide knowledge and skills to produce short movies, to be used to educate adults on the values of heritage culture in several European countries. Furthermore, the project will create two products for public use:

– A toolkit to share good practices and guidelines to creatively promote and narrate cultural heritage.

– Online platform for collecting digital films on the theme of heritage that will be produced as part of the project.

In April, the first lesson of the “Art and Cultural Heritage applied to adult educationcourse will be held. The course, organized by EGInA, will transmit to the participants the WAAT skills for the creation of videos to promote the heritage of the Umbria Region.
